Hakan Esin

I am a seasoned business executive working at the intersection of digital healthcare, connected care, patient experience, and market growth.
Â
My professional life has always been shaped by technology, transformation, and healthcare — although, in fairness, healthcare entered the picture long before I had any say in the matter.
Â
Both of my parents are specialist doctors. My father is a general surgeon, my mother is a pediatrician, and several members of my extended family also built their careers in specialized medicine. So, while some children grew up with bedtime stories, I grew up with dinner-table stories about hospitals, patients, surgeries, emergencies, and the very human side of care delivery. Even my weekends had a healthcare angle: I often played football in the hospital backyard while my father was on duty.
Â
That early exposure did not make me a doctor, but it did give me a lifelong respect for healthcare professionals, hospital operations, and the complexity behind every patient journey.
Â
I graduated as an electronics engineer in 2000 and started my career in enterprise IT and digital transformation. Over the years, I worked across software testing, development, presales, sales, and business development. I spent a decade in telecommunications, later moved into system integration, and worked on large-scale telecom, fintech, and health IT platforms, shifting my focus fully to digital healthcare early 2020.

Today, my main areas of interest are digital healthcare, connected care, patient engagement, patient experience, and quality of care. I am especially interested in how healthcare organizations can move beyond fragmented systems and create more connected, intelligent, and patient-centered care models.
Â
I have spent more than 15 years working across the GCC, with a strong focus on business development, market entry, partnerships, and regional growth. I have helped companies establish their presence in Dubai, enter new markets, and navigate the practical realities of doing business across the region. The GCC is not just a market I work in; it is a region I have come to understand, appreciate, and call home.
Â
I have been living in Dubai for the last seven years, which has given me a front-row seat to one of the most dynamic business environments in the world. Dubai is a city that constantly reminds you that ambition is not a slogan — it is an operating model.
Â
Outside of work, I am a father, a frequent reader, and a frequent traveler. I enjoy history, fiction, business books, and any subject that helps connect the dots between people, societies, ideas, and decisions. I have traveled to way too many countries so far, although I must admit that around 95% of those trips were business-related. Apparently, I collect boarding passes more efficiently than holiday memories.
Â
This website is my personal space to share thoughts on digital healthcare, connected care, business, travel, books, and the occasional observation that does not fit neatly into a professional category.
Â
I believe technology matters most when it improves human experience. In healthcare, that means better access, better engagement, better continuity, and better outcomes — not just more software.
